the longlist to end all longlists: The Dublin IMPAC award for 2011
Here it is, in all its lengthy glory from this website; tomorrow I'll comb through it in some more detail to see what I actually want to read.

Wow! That is one long list that I'm not going to attempt to complete! I have read quite a few of the books on the list already. My favourites from that list are The Glass Room and The City and the City. I look forward to seeing which ones you choose.
ReplyDeleteI loved The Glass Room! Had it won the Booker last year rather than Wolf Hall, it wouldn't have upset me in the least.
ReplyDeleteI don't get The Lost Symbol stuck in with really good literature, though!
Of this incredibly long longlist, I've read 14. Of those, my favorite is The Glass Room, although I really enjoyed Thursday Night Widows as well.
ReplyDeletePicking what I'll read from this list (based on the fact that I own them already!):
Invisible (Auster)
Library of Shadows (Birkegaard)
Brodeck (Claudel)
Red April (Roncaglio)
Burnt Shadows (Shamsie)
Waiting for Columbus (Trofimuk)
I think that's enough for now.
Gosh, I've only read one, The Leisure Seeker (Michael Zaoodorian), which I loved, loved, loved. Better start cracking on the rest of the list!
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting. I hadn't heard of The Leisure Seekers, so I'm going to look it up. Yes, you'd better get going! I highly recommend The Glass Room.
